Adichie uses her work to inspire women around the world in breaking gender constructions, stereotypes, and sexualities that have been made to subjugate women in society. Adichie has described feminism as part of the consensus knowledge on human rights. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s feminism, that of letting the other be the way the want to and not fit into certain molds or check certain categories reflects throughout her personal essay. Keenly, Adichie emphasizes how men will benefit from femi- nism just as women do—that the pressures that patriarchy places on the masculine role can be just as det- rimental as those placed on women. Hence, the title’s argument—We Should All Be Feminists—rings true for persons of all genders. In essence, we should all be feminists not only as a commitment to women’s liberation but also as a way of encouraging men to hold conversations with women on sexuality, appearance, roles, and success. Being a feminist entails championing for the rights of women and trying to make the world a better place for women.
