EVENTS Vlisco celebrates Women Words by - Linda Orajekwe It was not just an evening of glamour and style, but also, an opportunity to network and learn at the Lagos Continental Hotel in Lagos, last Sunday, as Vlisco pared no expense to celebrate women. As part of her objective to deliver contemporary African prints to fashion enthusiast, Vlisco, the manufacturers of premium Dutch Wax fabrics, in collaboration with The Bloom Africa presented “an evening with Vlisco” in celebration of women history month. This event was graced by fashion icons and celebrities, who attended the event wearing glamorous styles made with Vlisco fabrics. The event began with a cocktail, sponsored by Bailey’s delight, followed by a power talk in collaboration with The Bloom Africa moderated by Train Durotoye (founder, The Bloom Africa). It featured dynamic female speakers such as Tara Fela-Durotoye (CEO/Founder House of Tara), Ronke Onadeko (Author ‘To My Younger Self”), Oseyi Etomi ( Head of Corporate Communication at Patch) and Adenike Adeyemi (Executive Director of Fate Foundation). Other special features were, pop-up store to showcase Vlisco designs, fashion illustrators, who were stationed to sketch beautiful designs tailored to the individual guests’ taste. The event was rounded up with a fashion show, showcasing collections from two designers, who were past winners of the Vlisco Fashion Fund- Jumoke of O’Milua (2015), and Paramole Omotayo of Tesmi (2018). 18 www.glamsquadmagazine.com
